Hardlinking files in Vista x64 not working...

For last two hours I tried to remove some obsolete DLL duplicates and hardlink them to newest copies of each file. Unfortunately when trying to hardlink files, the program freezes and crashes with no error message. Help!

Possibly security permissions if the DLLs are registered and in use. The system isn't allowing DC to delete the DLL in order to create the hardlinked copy. I'd stay away from hardlinking DLL's as it could cause trouble later!
