work only on currently selected rows

Is the "work only on currently selected rows available" in image mode?
The reason for asking is that i want to use different selection criteria for different groups of duplicate photos and i cant see a way of doing this without the program selecting all duplicates based on the current criteria.

You can select rows, right click and choose 'Filter to selected'. Then the selection assistant will only work within the filtered files.
